While at the Walt Disney Feature Animation Studio, I was asked by Disney Publishing and Golden Books to co-illustrate children's books. It was a wonderful experience; based on the manuscript I was given I drew the layouts, compositions, characters and backgrounds as quick rough sketches. Then the Art Director would approve these rough sketches, and with any final notes, I drew the final pencil line artwork. From there my drawings went to the traditional painter or digital colorist. Here is a sample of that work illustrating a little bit of the process - showing rough sketches to final color with some notes from the manuscript.
